Situated along 1.8 miles of North Sea coastline only six miles from St Andrews, Kingsbarns Golf Links is one of the most breathtaking courses in the world. Though it only opened for play in July 2000, it appears to have been in existence for centuries as golf was play on the site since 1793. Ranked as a top 100 worldwide course, Kingsbarns is part of the long heritage of links golf centred around St Andrews.
The course is traditional in nature but has world class design with its current championship layout, designed by Kyle Phillips. It is a real one of a kind man-made development , well known for its comfortable, friendly and attentive service. The relaxed clubhouse and hearty handshake of the first tee starter – all combine to what has been called the warmest welcome in golf.
The sea figures prominently on the course with sights, sounds and smells of the ocean spray present at every hole. The links boasts spacious fairways, which roll and twist through majestic ridges and hollows, while the large inviting greens present suitable challenges to every golfer. Kingsbarns co-hosts the European Tour’s Dunhill Links Championship along with the Old Course at St Andrews and Carnoustie since 2001. In 2007, Kingsbarns hosted the St Andrews and Jacques Léglise trophies.
