Some of Europe’s most pristine and beautiful golf courses can be found in the unspoilt glory amongst the hills in northern Italy. Golf Club Bogogno is undoubtedly one of the finest, with its magical woodland setting providing a beguiling environment to enjoy a fine round of golf in.
This naturally opulent golf course is a wonderful walk in the park. Set in the foothills of the mountains which lie lingering in the background, Bogogno is a remarkably bright and vivacious green parkland course. The course appears to weave through the forest that makes itself known on the outskirts and borders of many of the holes, while the waterways that flow through the course provide a sparkling alternative on the opposite side. The natural elements are glorious when you are finding the middle of the fairways and can admire them adequately.
Bogogno is home to two eighteen hole par 72 championship courses, the Bonora and the Del Conte. The Bonora is the premier course, with its classic parkland layout pitting you against the hilly terrain and a heavy dose of carefully placed bunkers, which defend the immaculate greens. The Bonora course is a wonderful twisting and turning challenge of a golf course, with the holes following the natural contours of the hill land.
The Del Conte is a fine and varied alternative, playing in more of a links style, with tight fairways and large lakes and testing rough to combat. Although the wind is not what would be expected for a traditional links course, the need for precision all across this course makes the Del Conte a more than worthy adversary, and gives Bogogno the depth of challenge and diversity of play needed to make it a golf club that is truly worth visiting.
