The North of Italy may not be uppermost in your thoughts when it comes to destinations for golfing vacations, but there is a world of relatively undiscovered golfing magnificence in this mountainous region. In fact, one of the finest courses in all of Italy, Biella Le Betulle, can be found way up in the north of Italy. This sublime course is well worth the journey, though.
Golf Club Biella Le Betulle is a simply sumptuous piece of golf turf. You will marvel at the wondrous fairway scenes that present themselves around the course, with an enlightened layout that has seen the course routinely declared Italy’s top golf course for several years. The course plays out in stunning parkland under the gaze of enormous birch trees that run along the outside, as well as the mountains of Biella which hover above in the background, creating a marvellous natural golfing amphitheatre.
The course itself has a number of intriguing water features on display, hazards that are in play on several holes and that make you think long and hard about how to make your approach. In particular, this is highlighted at the twelfth hole. Water runs all down your left side of this par 4 377 yarder, allowing two opportunities to get washed out should either your tee or approach shot drift wide. The tee is way back on the left, exacerbating your issues with the water, and punishing those who fail to take the upmost care with each shot.
Biella Le Betulle is the cream of the crop for golf in northern Italy. A golf trip to this part of Italy will really illuminate the regions great golfing pedigree, and you can take pride in being one of the few to be in the know. Italian golf is Europe’s surprise package.
