Tenby

Tenby Golf Club is the oldest of all Wales’ golf clubs. It was originally established in 1888, before the legendary golf architect James Braid was hired to extend the course from a nine to an eighteen hole affair. Ever since, Tenby has maintained a reputation for being a high calibre links course and a warm and convivial atmosphere in the clubhouse.
Tenby Golf Club is located on the south western shore of Wales, along the Pembrokeshire coastline with magnificent coastal views of the Irish Sea. The splendid site is an idyllic location for the game of links golf, with the close perimeter to the shoreline offering the blustery winds that make the game so challenging. Tenby is an old fashioned course, and it has not tried to dress itself up with fancy airs and graces. Instead, Tenby maintains its classic, dignified course, keeping it in impeccable condition year round.
Tenby’s back markers let the course play at just under 6700 yards, and the sandy links has great natural drainage, allowing play to take place 365 days of the year. The fairways roll with aplomb, but the true joy at Tenby comes on the greens. The targets are mostly generous, and with the ground fast and true, they are a fair and enjoyable test of your putting ability.
Golf in Wales is a real treat, and one that is growing in popularity after more and more people report back positively on their experiences. Tenby has been a big part of that, with its traditional layout, mesmerizing scenery and hospitable atmosphere proving a winning combination. Tenby should be given great consideration on any golfing trip to Wales.
